Women across the world, especially in India, face significant challenges when it comes to financial independence, entrepreneurship, and career growth. Despite government schemes, NGO programs, and corporate initiatives, the reality on the ground tells a different story. Many women still struggle due to societal norms, lack of support, financial dependence, and limited access to skill-building opportunities.

At Youngsters of Hyderabad Youth Welfare Association (YOHYWA), we recognize that true empowerment is not just about providing financial aid or short-term training—it is about building a strong, self-sustaining ecosystem where women can thrive. This is why we launched SHE-CAN, an initiative designed not just to train but to transform.

The Reality: Why SHE-CAN is Needed

While many initiatives exist for women's empowerment, the hard truth remains:

1. Government Schemes vs. Reality:

• Numerous government programs promise financial aid, but the bureaucratic process, lack of proper guidance, and rigid eligibility criteria make them inaccessible to most women.

• Many loan schemes and subsidies require collateral, high credit scores, or excessive paperwork, making them impractical for first-time women entrepreneurs.

• Government-run skill development programs often provide basic-level training without ongoing support, incubation, or financial backing.

2. Other NGO Initiatives:

• Many NGOs conduct short-term workshops or distribute funds, but without follow-up support, most women fail to sustain their businesses.

• A large number of training programs focus on traditional skills like tailoring and handicrafts without exploring modern business avenues.

• There is no structured mentorship or practical exposure in many programs, leaving women unable to convert their skills into profitable ventures.

 

3. The Social Struggles:

• Women still face family restrictions and societal pressure, discouraging them from stepping into the business world.

• Many lack the confidence and exposure to take financial risks or lead their own businesses.

• Financial dependence on male family members prevents many from making independent business decisions.

2. End-to-End Business Support

We don’t just train women and leave them to struggle alone—we provide ongoing mentorship, business guidance, and incubation support.

We work on direct vendor-based funding, where essential business needs (equipment, raw materials, or services) are paid for directly, ensuring that funds are utilized efficiently.

Women don’t just need skills; they need confidence to step forward, negotiate, and lead.

Our workshops include public speaking, negotiation skills, and business communication training.

Real-life business exposure and networking opportunities with successful entrepreneurs and industry leaders.

Many women drop out due to lack of support. We build a network of women entrepreneurs, mentors, and business experts to create a self-sustaining support system.
